Satanic Cult at Quarry

Yesterday night was pretty fun. I hung out with my friends Kerstin and Natalie. All rumors had it that there was a quarry that night, and since we had nothing better to do, we decided to stop by. We arrived at the closest bus stop around midnight, and saw some people from the school. So once again, this led us to believe something was going on. However, once we got up to the field where it is usually held, there were only a handful of Austrians sitting around the campfire. On our way back down we heard all this drumming, and decided to check out where it was coming from. We walked up another path towards it, and it became louder and louder. We started thinking that we should turn around because it could have been some satanic cult or something. Just as we were discussing this the drumming stopped. It was scary as hell, so we left. Just before we got back to the normal street at the bottom we saw this guy walking up the hill all hypnotized. Seriously, our whole trip could have been in a movie.

Today it has been hot as hell. My apartment heated up to 28ÉC (82.4ÉF). I left around three to aimless wander up and down Mariahilfer Straœe a bit. I got back around five. Now IÌm just trying to figure out ways to kill time until like eight or nine, when I will head downtown to party.

Carrier's Untouched Market

ItÌs still hot as hell here! I canÌt take it anymore! The heat just makes me horribly lazy and I end up sitting around all day doing nothing as hell. Seriously, Carrier should start marketing air conditioning here. EveryoneÌs horribly rich yet no one has it.

Anyway, last night I met like eleven or twelve friends from my class at PaddyÌs. That was pretty fun. It ended up being another alumni party. TodayÌs Friday, so tonight should be tons of fun. My parents are gone÷ You know what that means÷ House party! Not at all actually, considering the fact I live far away from everybody. IÌm just going to go downtown and see what happens.

Oh, I love how Smirnoff Ice is labeled as Ïflavored beerÓ in the States. Here itÌs labeled as a Ïvodka mixed drinkÓ or more specifically as ÏSmirnoff Vodka with the refreshing taste of the lemon.Ó I hate it anyway.

I'm Too Lazy For My...

I didn't go out tonight again! We're sort of running out of people that'll go out. I spent the night watching two back-to-back episodes of Sex and the City. I don't know why, but I was horribly lazy so I didn't want to look for something else. Seriously, name me any American show and it'll be on TV here, either dubbed in German or with subtitles. South Park, Crank Yankers, and Jackass were some of the others shows on tonight.

It's horribly hot. It's almost two in the morning and it's still like 20'C (around 68'F) out. I'm still trying to find ways to amuse myself, which shouldn't be a problem in this city, but I'm just too lazy to do anything I guess. Virtually every band that's touring Europe will stop in Vienna. The Rolling Stones, R.E.M., and Bon Jovi are just a few examples.

Now I'm just blankly staring at the TV again. Check this out: There's a 24-hour Big Brother channel! It's so useless at night, unless you enjoy watching people sleep. Well, I'm going to go sleep myself.

Prom, Money, Germany

After ten consecutive nights of going out, I decided to rest last night. (Actually there was nothing going on!) I went to my former high schoolÌs prom Saturday night. It was fun as usual, although it was most definitely my last one! It was at the Grand Hotel Vienna (formally known as the ANA (All Nippon Airways) Grand Hotel but some rich Arabian oil king bought it), where it has been for years. I showed up around eight, but as usual the party didnÌt really get going until around eleven. It went until one, after which I hung around a bit and then drove a few friends home. When I got home at three I was horribly depressed because then I realized another week of boredom was ahead of me. Weekday nights usually are pretty fun, because I hang out with my alumni friends downtown, but the days just suck. I usually end up sitting at home and listening to music waiting for time to pass or someone to call me, which rarely ever happens anymore! I really like the weekends, especially Friday, when I usually hang out with some of my still-in-school friends.

I donÌt feel like killing all my money on decent, but not particularly exciting nights downtown. Basically my choices are to take the car and therefore save a lot of money but sit there while my friends really enjoy themselves, or take public and sort of join the enjoyment but also get rid of a lot of cash. The fact of the matter is that I want to buy a car later this summer and the euroÌs worth a lot these days÷ Except in Europe! Often IÌll spend Ÿ20 a night, which is like $24. You can see how money has the potential to disappear fast at this rate. Luckily, since I take the car most nights I donÌt end up spending that much money.

IÌm also a little upset that IÌm flying to visit my grandparents on June 6, which I have found out is the last day of school at my former high school, and there will probably be a great party that night. I wish I had found that out a little sooner, but IÌm looking forward to seeing my grandparents again, and IÌm sure there will be many party opportunities when I get back four days later.

Exams, Trip, Sophomores, Alumni

Once again I've been horribly lazy and haven't updated this thing in weeks. Oh well Guess it's time for me to write another thousand-word entry to tell the story of my last few weeks.

Basically, I had no final exams this semester. But I had around forty pages in essays to write. I ended up writing each essay the night/morning before it was due, because I can only write under pressure. So Saturday the 10th, when I was almost done, I took a trip home to take half my junk out of my room. Seriously, it was during this last week of college where I wished I had decorated my room like two of my friends down the hall, Josh and Jason, who each had one poster on the wall, one TV and one computer, and maybe a fridge Anyway, their room was basically the way they found it.

I, on the other hand, had a huge 27-inch TV, a computer with tons of extra junk attached to it, tons of video equipment, four plastic storage bins, and a lot more. Anyway, I went home Saturday and drove back Sunday, upon which I drove home again Tuesday after attending a mandatory three-minute philosophy exam period, in which we just handed in our papers. What a waste of time! It took me forever on Tuesday to pack all my junk into the car. I finally left around five I guess.

When I got home I got to pack again, for seven or eight weeks in Vienna! I packed until two, and then from six to 9:30, upon which my mom dropped me off at the Greyhound station. I then took a bus to JFK via the wonderful Port Authority Terminal. My flight was all right, except for the fact that the guy in front of me had a "broken" seat that went back way to far. Hence I was horribly squeezed in. But I always chose an aisle seat, so I could utilize the aisle a bit.

30 Pages to Go

Well, classes are done with. Now I just have to write 30 pages in essays and than it's Party in Vienna time!
