Last-Minute Shopping

You have to love last-minute shopping! If you've been reading my weblog a lot, you know I always put everything off to the last minute. This includes Christmas shopping. Actually I had already gotten my dad's present about two weeks ago off eBay. It was one of those keychain flash drive things. But I needed something for my mom, so I went to Boscov's in downtown Binghamton. For some reason, despite some cities as large as Cleveland not having downtown department stores anymore, we still do. And it's about the only thing left downtown!

Anyway, after nearly having to park on the roof of the adjacent parking garage, I waded through puddles and carefully climbed a set of stairs that has been "under repair" ever since I was a little kid. Once inside I actually found something for my mom, one of those foot spa things. So I was ready to leave again.

Unfortunately there was a backup of cars in the garage almost all the way up to where I was parked. The reason? Well despite 99% of the people using that garage using it to go to Boscov's, the city still has someone at the exit checking if the tickets are stamped/validated by the store so that three hours of free parking applies. What the hell is the point of that!? Granted, they might get one guy to pay the $1 or whatever every twenty minutes, but it angered the shit out of everyone else in the garage, making it quite likely that they won't show up for a few months. Then they'll be surprised if Boscov's shuts down one day!

Anyway, I just used way too much swearing for Christmas Eve. Shame on me. Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays... Your choice!

Vacation At Last

Once again I'm a few days behind, so I guess I should catch up. My last exam was Monday. That night I drove to Utica and hung out with my friend Kelvin. He packed all night and we drove to his friend's place twice, so I didn't get any sleep. At five or so we drove to the Syracuse airport. On the way we stopped at the Turning Stone Casino, spent a few minutes there, and then continued on. We hung out at the airport a bit. Then I drove home.

That was easier said than done because I got into a huge rush hour traffic jam and it took me half an hour for the seven or so miles from the airport to the downtown exits. I was sick of driving already, so I stopped at a Burger King and and ordered something. Then I realized I had no money on me. Luckily there was a gas station next door, so I jumped over a wall of snow and got some money at an ATM. Then I finally got my meal and ate it. Burger King's coffee was was so pathetically weak that it did absolutely nothing to keep me awake. I noticed this half an hour later around Cortland, where I had to exit and take a Red Bull pit stop.

The Red Bull worked surprisingly well and became hyper and easily made it home. Once at home it wore off really quickly and I took a nap for around an hour. I didn't last long that night after forty-something hours with only one hour of sleep.

And these past few days I haven't done anything but a little computer stuff during the day and chilling with Emil next door at night. He's gone now too, so I have to kill time by myself somehow until Friday when I'll fly to Vienna.

Welcome To Paradise

It just never stops snowing here. This is what it looks like outside:

Comstock Avenue Covered in Snow

I'm not going anywhere. I already had to drive through a huge storm on Friday night when I drove back to college. At times traffic was slowed down to 25 mph on I-81. Thankfully my car is parked underground in that garage on the right of the photo.

I have one more exam at eight tomorrow morning. It's linguistics. I'm the only one left in my suite. There's a strange garlic smell and I don't know where it's coming from.

Last-Minute Before Midnight

I absolutely love essays due at midnight! Why? Because I can get up the day they're due and write one page every hour and still finish on time! Right now I'm at home in Vestal and I hope to have my textual studies essay done by ten so I can subsequently drive back to college and put it in my professor's mailbox by midnight!

Another Day of Hell Ahead

I guess it's time to update again, although there's not really much to write about. Today is the last day of classes, which begins even earlier for me because I had to shuffle some classes around to make room for something else.

I have a chem exam on Monday which is going to be hell. Then I have a linguistics exam a week later. I'm probably going to go home in-between. I also have three papers due Monday and another on Friday. Yep... Isn't it great!?

I can't wait to go to Vienna from December 26 to January 10. It's going to be great.

I'm looking forward to next semester, when I'm going to take more interesting and/or easier classes. This semester has been one long hell ride.

Oh well off to a few hours of sleep.
