Here's to the geniuses at Starbucks in Vestal, who will hand you a brim-filled cup of extremely hot coffee at the drive-thru window, which will then spill in your car and burn a rectangle on your finger, should you attempt to plug the opening in the lid.

All right... It seems my comments came through as a bit harsh, as I've been bombarded (well by my weblog's standards) with angry comments which failed to post due to their use of extreme vulgarities.
One commentator suggested I remove myself from my car and go inside to get a coffee. That's usually how I like to do it. However on this particular day I was most likely in a rush.
Another commentator suggested that I ask for a less full cup. That's probably not a bad idea. In retrospect I do see the dilemma faced by employees, as if they under-fill the cup they'll also get yelled at by some people.
A third commentator suggested I bring my own mug or buy one from Starbucks. A possible solution, but in my case I don't find it all too realistic that I'll always have one with me, as I usually take the coffee from my car at my destination and finish it there.
As to why I would "devote more time to insulting people on the internet when [I] could exert one ounce of effort to figure out a brilliant solution all by [my] lonesome": I was simply enraged that coffee had spilled out of the cup and burned me in my quick attempt to stop more coffee from spilling out.
In any case, especially as a result of the potential fill-level complaining if the level was lower, I realize in retrospect that I shouldn't have taken my rage out on the employees at this particular location.
I do feel that there should be some kind of cup redesigning at Starbucks Central though. Probably the easiest solution is to adopt a closeable lid like Dunkin' Donuts.
