{"id":323,"date":"2005-05-08T18:39:06","date_gmt":"2005-05-08T18:39:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newkai.com\/"},"modified":"2005-05-08T18:39:06","modified_gmt":"2005-05-08T18:39:06","slug":"a-night-of-kazakhstan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newkai.com\/2005\/a-night-of-kazakhstan\/","title":{"rendered":"A Night of Kazakhstan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I drove home today to get some peace and quiet so that I can work on my take-home final for my Introduction to Human Rights class, which is to write a draft about the human rights issue in a country we were assigned, in my case Kazakhstan.<br \/>\nThe problem is that I keep getting conflicting information. Even the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.state.gov\/g\/drl\/rls\/hrrpt\/2004\/41689.htm\" target=\"_blank\">2004 Country Report on Human Rights Practices in Kazakhstan<\/a>, by the U.S. Department of the State, in my opinion, conflicts itself several times.<br \/>\nOverall, the State Department report gave the impression that conditions are improving in regards to Human Rights in Kazakhstan, with the major exception being limited abilities for citizens to change their government, as there is lots of foul play regarding elections.<br \/>\nI just read an <a href=\"http:\/\/shininglight.us\/mt\/archives\/2005\/02\/west_neglects_c.html\" target=\"blank\">Associated Press article on David Edwin Marco II&#8217;s Weblog<\/a> that generally states everything is going downhill in Kazakhstan in regards to human rights.<br \/>\nOh well, it&#8217;s going to be a long night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I drove home today to get some peace and quiet so that I can work on my take-home final for my Introduction to Human Rights class, which is to write a draft about the human rights issue in a country we were assigned, in my case Kazakhstan.
