Ok people I am dead serious...we need to have a five year reunion. I don't care when I don't care where, but it's gotta happen. Any suggestions?
maybe we should see where more people are- east coast or west coast. or at least where most people can get to easily/cheaply.... that might increase the number of people that can make it!
True that....I'm currently Atlanta, so I guess that means the east coast would be easier for me. Where are you right now Katie?
i am in northern virginia- so east coast for me is great. and there are so many beaches or casinos on the east coast it could be pretty easy to accomodate.
The East Coast is easier to reach from Europe too, especially cheaply.
How expensive is Atlantic city?
i think you can do it pretty cheap. i am not sure about how close to the casinos the hotels are and what those prices are.. but i don't think it's bad
I'm sure there must be good deals there...I know Vegas has amazing deals, so it has to be similar right? YAY for gambling...I'm taking all of ya'll down!
i know that the commercials i see on TV are often of great deals in AC. and from northern virginia, i think AC is only a few hours away. if you go to www.atlanticcity.com they have some sample rates for hotels (for september). they range from ~$60 to a little over $100. not too bad. especially if we share rooms or something.. maybe a group rate?
I found a Holiday Inn that would be $40/night/person. It's 5 miles away but there's a shuttle bus. The hotel is pretty simple, but has a pool.
I only spent a couple minutes searching though.
that is at least a good starting point. i would guess that there might be a little more expensive hotel rooms that are right near the casinos then! not that $40 for 5 miles away is bad
AC would be perfect, i'm in, but when would this be?
If we only knew...
I'm all for a 5 year reunion! The east coast works well for me. Tell me when and I'll be there!
Hey guys,
Ok. I´m all in about getting serious about this. There is one problem with Atlantic City: Big International Airport. It´s about a two hour train ride from NEw York City (JFK and Laguardia) and 1 1\2 from Philadelphia. I agree that East Coast is probably the cheapest from Europe. Lets face it, our class is pretty spread out right now... London, Frankfurt, Berlin, San Fransisco, NYC, etc. Are any other cities a possibility? If not, maybe those that have to pay high airfare pay less hotel... those details can be worked out later. Now... contacting everyone. I think I have everyone´s most recent e-mail address up to about a year ago. I am missing a few and will go through my contact information. Can everyone do the same, will compile and list and see who´s missing. Also, can we e-mail? Sorry, I just don´t check this website very often.

Part of the reason Atlantic City came up was the fact that it's on the East Coast, where most of our class that's in the U.S. is. It's less than three hours away from three of the four largest metropolitan areas in the Northeast: NYC, Philadelphia, and Washington/Baltimore. ...Yeah, sorry Boston.
There are over 82 domestic flights per week to Atlantic City International Airport with Delta and low-fare Spirit Airlines (see: http://www.farecompare.com/flights....fo.html )
Over the last two or three years we've come to a realization that an international reunion isn't going to happen at the five year mark. People are simply too busy and in some cases poor to travel across the ocean for a week.
"Reunions" so to speak happen haphazardly in Vienna from time to time, but I think what we were working at here with Atlantic City is getting people who we never see in Europe anymore to come to a more accessable location. And AC is very accessible if you're on the East Coast. ...Plus it's cheap and is the next-best thing to Las Vegas!
I would really be up for anywhere.. I think AC would be cool since there is something to attract anyone! But I'd ultimately be happy with anything. Have we decided on a date/month yet?
We haven't decided yet. Any suggestions? Its difficult picking a time when everyone can get off of work/school. I guess we can just set a date. Send out invitations and hope for the best? What's the best way to entice people?
Maybe early summer would be best? May or so? So people that are in school should be out, and those that are working can get some PTO saved up. I think a long weekend at most (Th-Sun) would be best because then more people might be able to make it. And people could come for half the time if need be. I couldn't do any later than August with all the wedding plans... So I'd say May/June.
I'll all for a long weekend in early summer. Hopefully I'll have a job by then. There's Memorial Day (technically not yet summer) and the Forth of July. Those are the only federal long weekends around that time.
